Longboard Trucks We know a longboard truck is a metal T-shaped piece attached to the lower side of the longboard deck and attached to the wheels, and it is a necessary part if you want to make a finished skateboard. I think every longboard requires two tracks, which can be measured by hanger width or axle width. The purpose is similar, but the longboard track differs significantly from the standard skateboard track. My daughters tell me longboard track hangers are wider to accommodate different deck sizes (most longboard tracks are 151mm or 181mm). Longboard Track Sizing (Longboard Trucks)

Long Board Truck Hanger Width

An axle is a strip of metal that penetrates the hanger and connects to the wheel. For a longboard skateboard, the width of the hanger should be approximately aligned with the width of the deck. For decks of 9 inches or more, the hanger width must be at least 180 mm. Narrow cruisers and carving longboards are OK with a hanger width of 150 mm.

The base plate is a rectangular piece of metal that screws the deck to the rest of the track. The angle of the base plate is the angle of the kingpin relative to the base plate. The rise of the base plate dramatically affects the ease of handling the turn of the longboard. If the base plate angle of the track is high (for example, 50 degrees), the inclination of the deck is increased, allowing for a sharper turn. If the track setup of the skate is installed at a low angle, then the track turns will be less.

Generally, the 50-degree angle allows for carving and cruising and provides sufficient stability even downhill. For experienced riders and competitive downhill riders, a 180mm hanger on a base plate with a 44-degree angle is ideal. The tip of the base plate can also be changed by adding an angled riser to the setup.

Deck Tilt (Longboard Trucks)

We know when you turn a skateboard or longboard, the downward force is applied to the rail, causing the deck to shift slightly to the side. This is called the inclination of the deck, and there are boards with a large inclination of the deck and trim boards. I think the slope of the deck depends on the track’s tightness (tight = less inclined, loose = more inclined), the hardness of the deck material, and the amount of force applied. You know the height of the track will most significantly affect the amount of inclination of the deck. The higher the way, the higher the balcony is from the ground, and the more room is available for the deck to tilt. If the deck is too tilted, it may bite and wipe out.

 It’s not a mistake or a correct deck tilt. Adjust the board tilt depending on your personal preferences and what kind of skating you’re going to do. (Tip: Boards with large deck tilt are good for carving and cruising.) Proper deck tilt also helps keep your board safe. For example, skateboards with minimal deck tilt are recommended for downhill skateboards because they provide excellent stability.

Traditional King and Reverse King Pins

I think are various variables to choosing which track to ride, and choosing the orientation of the kingpin is also an essential factor. We know Traditional and Reverse kingpin tracks are two significant categories of track styles. In the case of reverse-kinning pins (RKP), the kingpin is on the opposite side of the axle, so the orientation of the kingpin is different. You know, for this reason, when you ride a reverse-ringing pin track, the heavyweights will turn away from each other rather than facing each other like a traditional setup.

I know its shape; the reverse pin is more accessible to rotate and taller than a conventional truck, making it easier to carve and turn. Of course, the angle of the base plate also dramatically affects the turns and leans obtained in the RKP. By changing the angle of the base plate, you can offset the bends and leans obtained by the reverse-skinning pin. You know, for this reason, all types of long-boarders ride on reverse-skinning pin tracks.

Bear Truck – Canada’s Best Brand

Bear Trucks is from Vancouver, BC. It is owned by Landyachtz, one of the largest longboard companies in the world. It has been under the umbrella of Landyachtz for about 20 years. Bear Track’s history is closely tied to the history of downhill skateboards, and looking back on the lineup, you can see how downhill skateboards (and longboards) have changed over the years and how gears have evolved.

There are two types of Bear tracks: TKP and RKP. The TKPS is used for skateboards and small cruisers in Landyachts. RKPs are used for giant longboards and downhill boards.

Polar Bear TKP

Polar bear TKP is different from other TKPS on the market. A slightly larger bush is characterized, enabling deeper turns and leans. Unfortunately, the bush size has changed, so it is difficult to find a replacement bush, but I have heard that the Thunder Bush Kit fits well.

Indeed, this TKP is favored by many riders. There are some riders that you like and others that you don’t like, and opinions vary greatly depending on the rider.

Available in five sizes: 85mm, 105mm, 130mm, 155mm, and 180mm.

Generation 6 Bear RKP

Generation 6’s bear track is the most exciting track on the market. There are various options, and any rider can find a set that suits his needs. The truck can be used for multiple purposes depending on your chosen model, such as downhill, free ride, cruising, and dancing. It is a very Leaney, but it is a turnie ride. It’s the “most surf” truck.

New Gen 6 BEAR Truck – 180mm/50°

Have fun downhill and a free ride. It fits my riding style very well and is the only cast track that feels comfortable with high-speed riding and high-speed stand-up slides. For reference, I feel more bent than the Caliber track, but I feel more tolerant than the Paris cast path.

Finally, that surfing ride is enjoyable even on cruises. And in terms of Kirby and Surfness, GEN6 is unbeatable in this list. This feeling is the best.

Bear Kodiak

The Bear Kodiaks is a forged track designed to challenge the limits of skateboarding within budget and run fast. The price is also reasonable at $150.

It uses a tall bush and uses a rake-less hanger. Therefore, the ride is very stable, but the lean is deep. If you want to ski at more than 40 miles per hour, this truck is a good choice.

Released in 2015, the truck is the first tall barrel precision item Bears has offered to the longboard market. However, the aging process has not progressed much. Most riders seem to have different tastes. Some absolutely like it, others are unimpressive.

Slalom Precision – Bear Smokes 2020 Truck

The Bears jumped on the bandwagon on the Slalom Downhill and developed a modern Slalom DH truck. However, unlike other brands, they decided to use plastic UHMW inserts to manage the slopes of their trucks. Also, a vital bush sheet is adopted for the hanger. In contrast, other brands use large urethane inserts, and many do not have a bush sheet.

Rojas’ track is quite an alien in this list. While other tracks have top and rkp geometries, this track has unique geometries. Instead of the usual two bushes, one large brush is used.

Rojas Truck – Longboard Skateboard Truck

One is that this eliminates the slope. Since the hanger is connected to only one movable part, there is no problem that the hanger, as in the other track, moves by itself. For more information on the hanger, please see the video below. 2x World Champion Thiago explains about the failure of the truck. In the end, you can get a fast-spinning track; with such an infinite tilt, the center is robust. Most tracks tap out of the lean when the bush is fully compressed. However, this truck has only one brush, so the tilt and rotation continue endlessly……For some riders, this endless lean turn makes it difficult to find a point to kick the wheel out and slide. The rider with the 2020 type Rojas says that the wheel byte key helps to clarify the reference point. Other tracks with similar issues include the following Vokster:

One of the most expensive precision trucks, it was rumored to be about $1,200 (about 120,000 yen). Only about ten sets were indeed made……

The single-bush concept of Rojas has been applied to enhance agility further. Almost everything can be adjusted! The width of the hanger, the angle of the rake, the tip of the track, etc. The width of the hanger, the rake, the angle of the way, etc., can be adjusted at any angle.

Rohastrack – Longboard Skateboard Truck

The Rojas truck comes with a lot of bushes and accessories—keys to stop the website, brushes of various shapes and sizes, etc.

But is it worth paying $1,200? I can’t say for sure, but I say that the rider I have is worth paying. The other riders who test-riders say the same thing. I’ve heard that Rojas is developing more affordable models so that they may be available shortly.

Options for hangers: Adjustable; there are options of different widths, but there is no information.

Rake options: +3mm or -3mm. The rake can be positive, negative, or neutral.

Valkyrie Trucks – An Innovative Attempt at RKP Trucks

Another unusual truck. These are co-planar designs. Rather than a single kingpin holding both bushes, these tracks have two. One kingpin holds the bushing on the load side, and the other pin is set high on the base plate and holds the bushing on the board side. The most important thing is to eliminate the slop, but it also changes the behavior of the bush and how the rider interacts with the brush. However, being an RKP truck is no different, and if you’re looking for a car with a sloping stop system that isn’t urethane (or UHMW) inserts, it’s probably the most forgiving option.

Regarding the riding feel, the center is excellent, giving the truck a significant lean. The center is similar to Ronins, but it provides a mechanical feel. Most riders try to control it using thick board-side bushes like Venom Kegs and Riptide Chubby. But it’s not a bad thing; it’s a result of design.

Riders say in unison that the track does not have a clear “kick-out” point like the conventional RKPS. Some riders have trouble with this when doing freeriding or stand-up slides because the more apparent kick-out end makes it easier to start a slide. However, this problem can be solved by using a short barrel bush and a thick brush.

Finally, the ultra-powerful center that this truck has is suitable for free riding. The stronger the center, the easier it is to hold the slide, and the more suitable it is for giant slides of 20 ft or more.

Saber TKP

TKP track of the most unusual species on my list. I’m using a much larger bush than the other TKPS. It is designed to use the 16mm-height brushes sold by Saber.

I like this track because it has a familiar feeling like RKP, but it has a texture like TKP and low car height. The truck was stable on the slopes, and I could go to the skate park with the same setup and grind the rails and coping.

If you’re looking for a hybrid TKP, this is the best I’ve tested. RKP-size bushes can be used.

Hanger options: 127mm, 139mm, 153mm, 170mm, 180mm.

Saber RKPS

There are two versions. There is a standard version and a relatively lightweight gravity-cast hollow version.

Buy a Sabre RKP truck at a longboard shop in The Hague, Netherlands—width 190mm.

I didn’t particularly like this truck. The seat surface of the bush is quite tight, and it feels very fast when riding. Sure enough, the car bends, but there is no flow. I haven’t tried much, but I’m sure I would have done well with a soft bush.

But it’s no match for the other cast options on this list. But if you take the time to set it up, it will work out quite well.

“Technical terms that are useful to understand”

Reverse Skinning Pin Track (RKP)

Reverse King Pin Truck. The bush is facing outward, as seen from the rider. It’s perfect for longboarding and is often perfect for speedy skating.

RKP Skateboard/Longboard Track

Traditional Kingpin Track (TKP)

Traditional King Pin Truck. The bushes are facing inward to each other. The hanger is thick and low-speed. It is often used for skateboards and small cruisers.

Cast

This is the production technology of trucks. Pour aluminum into the mold and cool to create the shape of the truck. Trucks made with this method often have minor defects and are not very strong.

Cast tracks are usually about $50.

Forging

This is a truck manufacturing technology that allows you to strike aluminum pieces into the shape of a truck. This technique makes the track super powerful and more robust than any other option. Most forging trucks are then finished with CNC, so the bush sheet and pivot pins have a precision of millimeters.

The price of forged trucks is usually around $150.

High accuracy

These are tracks cut out of aluminum lumps with a CNC machine. Since CNC machines cut out with millimeter accuracy, they are usually solid and have no imperfections. This technology allows companies to demonstrate their creativity and make any base plate in the form of any hanger.

The price of CNC trucks ranges from about $350 to about $450.

Slalom

Trucks made for slalom are designed in a certain way. Slalom is a sport where riders quickly get in and out between the cones, so slalom trucks are designed to make this easy.

There is also a new category of Slalom Trucks: Downhill Slalom Trucks. These trucks are designed to be as easy to maneuver as possible while being stable enough to run very fast (even 70 miles per hour). Here are some of them.

The track hangers move left and right. It turns sloppy, and the steering becomes worse. This will lead to speed fluctuations during high-speed driving.

Article Limits

I have to say this is not the best post. There should be a lot of brands that I haven’t covered. I know that there are several brands in Russia, that there are some brands from now on in Europe, and that there are some brands in Brazil. But I don’t know much about them or fully understand their reputation.
